One advantage of the SnoTel site is that it also gives water _content_,
which is a value more important than snow depth.

The reports are pdf's showing temperature min/max, wind, etc. as well as
snow depth measured all over the Park. West Entrance is up to 25" due to 1/2"
new snow - woo-hoo! Old Faithful has 28" but also lots of bare areas per the
cams. My guess is the measuring equipment is near the Ranger Station.
Today's report:

Subject: [Geysers] Snow depth
A few days ago, somebody asked (jokingly, perhaps) if there was any snow in
Yellowstone. Not much, I guess. As of today (2/18), the West Yellowstone
SnoTel site reports between 28 and 29 inches on the ground there, a value that
I'm guessing is less than half the "normal" for the date.
