Some of the old photographs of Waimangu got painted on so that the geyser looks even larger than it really is. Why someone would do this to photographs of eruptions that are already titanic is beyond me. Even a small eruption of Waimangu would certainly be impressive.
Wairoa is located at Whakarewarewa, not at Rotomahana.

What is it meaned by the photographs of Waimangu being enhanced? Is the implication that the eruptions were not as tall as the pictures would suggest?
Thanks,
