Neither I nor Bill, nor apparently any other gazer, was in the UGB
yesterday, when it rained off and on all day. Rain, yes -- lots of meltwater and the
rivers have come way up. Today I arrived at the Inn lot at 0740, Bill at about
0830, Tom not long after that. Broken clouds so some sun, but also a brisk
wind with the temp only up to the mid-40s. Depending on who you read/listen to,
tomorrow will either be about like today or terrible.

There was a griz seen north of Biscuit and then in Midway this morning, and
he was still there, near Catfish Geyser, at 1440. The UGB trails beyong Castle
& Sawmill remain closed -- we though they might be opened today, but then
somebody reported seeing a bear near Grand -- wee were out there and saw no
bear and really think the report was faulty, but nevertheless it was enough to
put the kibosch on any trail opening.

HOWEVER, Megan O'Malley was able to drive out into the basin and, on her
return to Castle at 1130, she reported that the Giant sign logs remained in
place -- no eruption since Tuesday last week ( =9 days).

Little Squirt was on and off ie this morning, but I think it had quit before
noon.

Plume intervals of 48, 46, 54, 52, 47, 51, and 47 minutes.

Beehive's Indicator 1305, Beehive 1318.

No Depression seen today.

Lion had a series of just two eruptions. The eruption at 0748 was definitely
the initial, that at 0910 the last. Indeed, it did rather little roaring
after that, but then was having decent splashes by 1300.

Aurum 0856 and 1256 -- it's easy to calculate intervals when it does that!

Castle had been at 0237E major, so I didn't see it today.

The features just off the boardwalk immediantly beyond the Crested-Sawmill
bridge, between the walk and Chimney Cone, were active today. Bill and I saw
the roundish vent erupt 1 to 2 feet high at 1021, duration perhaps 30 seconds.
After that, "Snake Eyes" played every 2 to 4 minutes. It was never more than
1 foot high (2 feet once, maybe) and this was continuing as of about 1415. We
invented two names while there. What's on the other end of Snake Eyes; why,
a Rattle, of course. And as for those small sputtering vents at the base of
Chimney; why, Fireplace, of course.

Well.

Grand was 0146E, then 1034 (-2Q).

Down basin, I finally caught Oblong at 1415. Daisy had a good day, playing
at 0750, 0952, 1155ns, and 1349ns.

Never did see anything from Grotto at any time from 0745 to 1430. Bijou was
on and judging by larger steam production, there were hot periods. But again,
Giant has not erupted since April 29 (as of 1430 today).

Fountain was 0728ie and White Dome was 0731ie as I drove in this morning.
