YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK NEWS RELEASE

Yellowstone National Park Launches Its First Live Streaming Webcam
Yellowstone National Park launched its first live streaming webcam today.
This exciting new feature provides live, full motion video of Old Faithful
Geyser, as well as Beehive, Lion, Giantess, and other geysers located on
Geyser Hill. Viewers may also observe wildlife as they wander into range of
the webcam.
This real time webcam can be launched at
http://www.nps.gov/yell/photosmultimedia/yellowstonelive.htm
where a 5-minute audio message presented by a park ranger plays with the
live video stream, providing information about various hydrothermal
features. For those who want to know more about Yellowstone’s thermal
features or wildlife, there are links on the webcam page that take viewers
to a variety of information, including short ranger talk videos.
The webcam is still considered experimental, especially in the harsh
environment of a typical Yellowstone winter. On occasions when the webcam
may be out of order, please do not contact the park as staff will be
closely monitoring the equipment and will work to correct any problems as
quickly as conditions allow.
Look for information about additional programs offered in 2008 via this
live streaming webcam.
The webcam, a Canon NU-700N, was donated along with supporting funds, by
Canon U.S.A. to the non-profit Yellowstone Park Foundation.
