We hear that several people are coming up, or thinking of doing so, for this weekend. OK, it will be good to see you. But be advised that as of right now, the entire main part of the UGB is closed because of the bears. The only open trail is the loop around Old Faithful. Today we had "only" one in the basin; the big "black" full adult griz spent most of the day feeding on a carcass next to the interchange. Meanwhile, Black Sand, Biscuit, and Midway are open, and ("for now they're letting it slide") if you park completely off the road, you can walk into Fountain. Anyhow, today was mostly clear, though the sun was weak, the wind strong, and the temp only up to 39 (per my car). Supposed to remain "unsettled" for the next 4 or 5 days. Plume intervals were 45, 50, 51, and 50 minutes Beehive's Indicator started at 1420, Beehive at 1436. Three trips in, two Beehives -- not bad. I still have not seen Depression. At 1030 and beyond, Lion was having episodes of heavy steam, then nothing, so it must have just ended a series. Aurum was 1031. At 1028, Castle was just entering the steam phase of a major. No info on Grand. >From the Inn parking lot, I caught the steam clud of Daisy at 1220 and 1415 -- yes, an interval shorter than 2 hours. In like fashion, Oblong at 1249ns and Artemisia at 1327ns. Though I'm not certain, I think Grotto started after my 1030 arrival, and then it was off before 1350. At Black Sand Basin, the small pool across the road from Spouter appears to have done something. It certainly isn't big and had produced no runoff, but at 1510 the formation was wet with puddles but the water level was down a good 6 inches. Great Fountain appeared to be ie at 1523.
