Has any one on the list visited the Hot Creek geothermal area since the reported appearance of geysers and subsequent closure of the swimming area? Links below are a little bit of info I located with a quick search Kyle http://www.fs.fed.us/geology/Hot%20Creek.pdf http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/inyo/news/2006/07/nr_hot_creek.shtml http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/inyo/recreation/rec-reports/mammoth-north.shtml "Hot Creek Geological Site: Due to increased geologic activity, swimming is prohibited. Please come see the geysers, mud pots, and other changes. 3 geysers have been shooting off periodically for the past year. The latest development in Hot Creek was a 150 foot section that started boiling over night in October 2006. More information from the US Geological Survey web site at http://lvo.wr.usgs.gov/ " http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/06/28/BAGOEJLK1M1.DTL&type=science "The sudden appearance of spouting geysers and bubbling hot springs in the middle of a shallow river near the High Sierra resort town of Mammoth Lakes (Mono County) has caused Inyo National Forest officials to close the area and ban swimming there."
