I spent some time watching the minors at Steamboat last Saturday (10/27) and Sunday (10/28).

Many of the minors were in the 20-30 foot range for both vents. A few, though, were higher. (My guess was 30-40 feet.) I saw one very nice North burst that lifted up (became more vertical) and was well above the trees. I recorded 9-13 South jets each hour, even though at times my vision was obscured by early morning steam. I saw one South jet that had vertical water to tree height. On Saturday morning, I was just under 70% concerted. That evening, though, I got 47% concerted with 43% South vent initiated. I got similar percentages on Sunday.

Overall, the South vent was putting out more water than I usually see. I stood at the bridge at the bottom and watched a steady stream (that had surges at times) come down the run-off channel Saturday morning.

Cistern Spring was overflowing into a pond to the left and was boiling, although perhaps the boil was not as vigorous as I often see it.

Each time that I looked at Echinus it was in overflow.

My husband, George, walked the basin on Saturday while I observed Steamboat. He reported that at Yellow Funnel an approximately 15 foot tree next to it had 2 inch icicles all the way to the top. The boardwalk was wet (about a 6 foot width of it) and the ground was wet between the boardwalk and the tree. There was no visible water in Yellow Funnel.
