Subject: [Geysers] GIANT at 0808 18 July 2007!  (Schwarz)











     Grotto ended at 1658 on 17 July for a 31h 38m marathon.  At least 7 
people waited during the night 7/17-7/18 for the recovery hot period.  By 
0700 Kitt made another call on the radio that the recovery hot period had 
not yet occurred, so more people zoomed down to wait.  Oblong erupted at 
0738.  At about 0756 Mastiff rose quickly.  Feather at 0757 followed about 
10 seconds later by F. Satellite and SW Vents.  Mastiff surged immediately 
and at 0759 was nearly the height of the cone.  India was covered except for 
Calcutta by 4m and Mastiff was flat but overflowing heavily.  Mastiff was to 
the height of the cone at 0803 and at 0804 India was heavily covered.  Lynn 
could see Mastiff better from the bikepath and she said at 0805 and 10 
seconds MASTIFF was erupting very high.  GIANT started at 0808.  Catfish 
started about 0809 and Mastiff and Catfish ended abpout 0812 and 30 seconds. 
  There was no wind, so the steam cloud was straight up.  Because of the 
steam we could not see the highest water.

     The duration was 91m (thanks Kitt Barger) and the Interval was 5 days 
54 minutes.

     Grand 17 July was 1944 (T1C) and 18 July 0412ie and 1108 (T3Q)!
