Hello all,
I just watched the 1936 Yellowstone film mentioned by the Leanys. This is
worth seeing, as it presents a "look back" to a Yellowstone very different
from today. Among other things, it shows bears rummaging through hotel
garbage and visitors walking between Rainbow Pool and Sunset Lake in Black
Sand Basin.
The film was also interesting as far as geysers were concerned. It
provides footage of what Sapphire Pool and its eruptions looked like in the
days prior to the 1959 earthquake. Among the other features I could identify
included Spouter Geyser, Excelsior's runoff channels, Hymen Terrace at
Mammoth, Grotto Geyser, and Jewel Geyser.
And the close-up shots of a geyser in eruption are actually of Riverside,
not Fan.
Still, pretty neat though.
