[Geysers] Mystery pics

In case anyone is interested in doing so, I inquired about adding the
mystery photos to the NPS image site. Here is the response. Please
note that Jim Peaco is the person that can make it happen. I believe
his e-addy is Jim_Peaco at nps.gov

As for the images residing in the HRC, seems to me that the only way to
eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Instead of waiting to upload the
entire lot, why not do them individually or in small groups?

Thanks,
Udo Freund

Hi Udo,

Any images that are not copyright protected can be added to the park's
Online Digital Image File if they meet the resolution standards. They
are:

No side over 10"
Resolution 200 p.p.i.
Saved as jpeg with quality sufficient to end up with an file size
between 500KB and 1MB.

this is equivalent to

No side over 6.67"
300 p.p.i
jpeg quality to result in file size between 550 KB and 1 MB.

We currently have a huge file of historic images in the Heritage &
Research Center collection but they are not interested in posting them
to the Online Digital Image File at this time. When we asked about
posting some of them last month, an HRC staff person indicated that
there is a project in the works that will allow them all to be put
online after they are all cataloged, scanned, and copyright issues are
resolved. I wouldn't hold your breath on that one if I were you.

Cheers,

Tom

p.s. Jim Peaco is the staff person responsible for adding images to the
slide file and/or Online Digital Image File.
