A good long day in the park today, and a whole lot more fun! I though something was to be posted about this mornings Giant recovery (no eruption), but apparently not... So I start with that. The Grotto marathon that started about 1830 on Saturday, 4/28, did not end until something around 2010 last evening. The recovery hot period finally occurred a bit before 0700 today. I was not htere, so this info is from Andrew Bunning via Karen Low. The hot period evidently lasted about 15 minutes and involved Mastiff suring as high as 6 feet. But again, no Giant. Subsequent hot periods took place at 0951 (d<4 min), probably about 1230 (really strong Bijou) and 1415ie (weak, d~3 min). It is certain that no hot periods were missed during this time. Riverside was 0836 and 1443ie. Artemisia was at 14xx yesterday, 1408ie today. Daisy pulled a bit of a surprise today, 0911 and then not until 1234, 3h 23m on a day with rather little wind. Oblong was 0847 and 1426, definitely a single interval and the 1426 eruption by far the weakest I've seen this year, small and with a total duration of not more than 5 minutes. At some point I'll be posting separately a list of Grand's intervals ince opening. Short. I've done no calculation yet, but I'll bet the average interval is only about 7 1/2 hours. Today Grand was 0511 (thanks Andrew) and 1149ie (not longer than 6h 38m, -1Q). Castle had had a minor yesterday afternoon, then apparently a rather short (~3 hour ? ) interval to the major. Today, major ie water at 0749. Plume 1141, 1231, 1325, and 1414. Aurum was never called. Did not see Depression. Lion was in the logbook for 060x ie, and was splashing a little bit around 1300. Tilt was having occasional overflows from a full crater, and sometimes (only sometimes) it drained at least some afterwards. But no eruption was seen until Karen and Andrew saw it last evening. Then today, literally as Barry Leedy and I were talking about it, it erupted at 1327. None of it was higher than 1 to 2 feet, but at least it _is_ active. And I guess that's it for now.
