<<<<Some of us discussed the eight flagpoles atop the Inn, and wondered what flags might fly there. In looking through a book today, I find that the Inn originally boasted eight flagpoles, one of which at times held a flag that read "Upper Geyser Basin" and another whose flag said "Yellowstone Park Association" (that being the hotel company at that time). Let's see: USA plus three states plus these two equals six. Needs two more. Hmmm. Guesses?

The GOSA logo. People will look up and say, "Why is "The Man from UNCLE" insignia up there?"

The UN flag - it's a world heritage site and would absoluetely freak out a small but interesting percentage of the populace.

The Union Jack and the Spanish national flag (at least the one before around 1810 or so). his part of Wyoming was claimed by both at one time or another.

Sell it as advertising! The NPS is always searching for new and innovative methods of funding.

Have the two empty ones opposite each other, sling a long bungee cord between them - a dandy thrill ride "Wings Over the Upper Basin."

Have them as craftily camouflaged Cell Towers for basin-wide WiFi.

Keep them empty and have people wonder why they're empty.
