[Geysers] Grand Geyser - ten bursts?

MA:
I remember a GOSA "show and tell" a few years ago where Dave Goldberg
presented a tape of eleven or more burst from Grand.
Scott Bryan (1955) Geysers of Yellowstone, p. 74 mentions 11 bursts in
an exceptional eruption in 1983. Is this the eruption Goldberg recorded?
J.S. Reinhart (1974) Geysers; Trans. American Geophysical Union, pp.
1052-1062, states on page 1057 that "At Grand, the jets can be interrupted
as many as twenty times".
    E. T. Allen and A. L. Gay (1935) Hot Springs of the Yellowstone National
Park, p. 164, state "In a phenomenal eruption in July 1928, witnessed by the
writers, there were 29 distinct outbursts, ..., the whole active period
covering 33 minutes."
    G. D. Marler, (no date, but pre 1973), Inventory of Thermal Features,
etc., USGS GD 73-018, transcripted from microfiche by Lynn Stephens for
GOSA, indicated )p. 113) that the number of separate eruptions during an
active phase ranged from "6 for a minimum, with 45 eruptions being the most
observed to date". Grand was dormant for "the rest of the year" following
the 17 August 1959 Hebgen Lake Earthquake. The next eruption was 19 Feb.
1960, followed by 28 eruptions to the end of the year (Marler, p. 114).
There's more of interest in the Marler report, but I digress.
                            Dick Powell
