[Geysers] Giant oddness

I wrote a message about the Giant mystery, but mysteriously it did not appear.

It was the Danger sign that ended up down on the flat; the weather was so ridiculous on the 15th (when I was downloading) that I didn't notice the change.
All signs are up on the platform now, and we'll be checking daily.

Old Faithful Carolyn

> David Goldberg said when talking with Carolyn Loren today, they discovered a little weirdness. When the signs were replaced on 12/04/06 (by Carolyn) they were both placed on the platform. Sometime between 12/11/06 and 12/15/06, one of the signs moved from the platform to down below. It was face up, which makes the process of movement a mystery. David speculated that Giant may have actually erupted during that time and the other sign didn't move due to being frozen in place when the initial wave of water came out. Or it may not have erupted. I guess we will know for sure when the recording device is downloaded (paging Jens Day.....)
> I waited until the listserv postings showed up to send this, in case Carolyn had posted it, since she has first hand knowledge, and I'm just passing on David's speculations, because he still hasn't signed up for the listserv.
> As for Mike Newcomb's picture, it looks like winter steam on a cold winter day to me.
> Hopefully I'll get off work with a little daylight left today to hit the basin.
