I was in the basin from about 10 am till about 1:30 pm today.. The
whole time I was in the Giant area Bijou was off (about an hour I was
in that area) and the water levels appeared to have nearly completely
recovered. I did watch Mastiffs Water level rise within a few inches
of overflow a few times then drop back down..
When i pulled in to the basin Vent and Turban were I.E. Dome was
also I.E. and continued to erupt the whole day.
I do not know if this is normal I just have not seen this before. I
passed by West Triplet at about 10:15 then again at about 11:45 both
times there was a stable pool of brownish water about 5 inches below
overflow there was no boiling that I saw.
Castle was seen near start at 1254 it was a major.
It appeared that Beehive erupted sometime in the morning as all was
very very calm and quiet there.
If you were watching the web cam and saw people out on Old Faithfuls
cone It was the Park geologist checking damage to old faithfuls cone
and taking photos of it (according to rumors why).
Fountain was quiet both times I passed and below overflow. Also, Jet
was quiet, Spasm had no water in it so I am assuming I just missed an
eruption.
On my way past Norris I did not see anything of interest but then
again I did not stop to really check it out closely.
The temp VC is in place but it still looks like the park service has
some work ahead of them (at least
two weeks before that is up and running)
The Inn now has its front roof on and the dining room roof is
finished. Currently they are working on finishing the roof on the
backside.
