I don't know why it's taking various routers so long to get my geyser reports posted to the listserv. When I was checking my sent file this morning to make certain I had sent both the November 1 and November 2 reports, I discovered I had made a typographical error in the Giant report--The interval should have been approximately 22 days 9 hours rather than 24 days 9 hours.

Additional information about the eruption:

When I had called "Does anyone have a start time on Giant?" Steve Eide was at the VC. He then came down for the eruption. One visitor walked by during the eruption. On his way toward Riverside, he asked how I was doining. He had a pamphlet for the Upper Basin in his hands and seemed to read about Giant, but didn't stop to watch the eruption. On his way back from Riverside area, he commented, "It sure lasts a long time, doesn't it?" When I replied that it did last about 1 1/2 hours but this was only the sixth time it had erupted this year, he walked off far enough toward Oblong so he could see part of the eruption above the steam from the runoff channel, took a picture, and then walked off quickly on his way.

The Giant signed was rolled off the platform a few feet, to about halfway between the bottom of the platform and the edge of the cage. The "Do Not Enter" sign (which is getting bagly defaced from rolling across the sinter) was also rolled about halfway to the edge of the cage. The Mastiff sign was moved only a few inches toward the cage but the sign was rotated such that instead of being parallel to the cage the right side of the sign was toward the river with the left side toward the cage and the sign was at about an 80 degree angle toward the cage. The Catfish sign did not appear to have moved at all. The sign that washed the farthest was the Bijou sign. It washed about 30 feet off the platform and around toward the river. I deputized Steve Eide to help me replace the signs before they got iced in with last night's rain, then snow and freezing temperatures.

Weather Update: The rain continued until sometime after 1 am. I woke again at 1:50 to the sounds of silence. When I looked out the window, the rain had turned to snow. I then fell back asleep until I woke at 6:30 am to the sounds of wind. We only got 1-2 inches of snow last night at Old Faithful, but it is still snowing and the wind is blowing. I can barely see Old Faithful from the VC window.
