Read again. From the trailhead to Paycheck Pass, atop the hill above the  
Upper Group, is about 5 1/2 miles, decidedly not just 3 miles. And at least in  
my opinion, doing only that would not be worth it. To really see anything of  
significance, you'd have to get at least as far as the Fissure Group. That's at 
 least another mile (plus a few hundred feet vertical).
