The list of West Yellowstone motels is quite long, and many times I've  heard 
that the town's motels have _never_ completely filled. Most of the less  
expensive places are operated seasonally and do not take reservations -- in  other 
words, they are first come - first serve. Aside from the West Y Chamber's  
Website (which last I looked, was less than up-to-date), you might check an  
on-line yellow pages phone directory.
