All,

For your information, there is a quicker and easier remedy to some of these
issues as well. Please stop by the front desk of any Xanterra property and
ask for the Location Manager. This person can quickly work with department
managers to ensure problems that arise do not repeat themselves. In the
matter of black garbage bags and housekeeping service, I have forwarded the
comments to the Location Manager of the Lodge.

I'm sure those who have stayed in the cabins this year can all echo Karen's
complaints. "Housekeeping" was almost nonexistant in my 6-night stay. The
main reason I'm writing this is to warn those who are coming later on: if
you find a large black garbage bag full of trash outside of your cabin, it
was probably left there by housekeeping. However, if you leave the bag
where it is, you will be rudely awakened in the morning (one gazer got her
wake-up call at 0630) by a law enforcement ranger, who will tell you that
you should have notified the front desk about the trash. I know of at least

3 cases in the space of a week where gazers saw these bags left around the
cabin area.

If this happens or has happened to you, please take a little time to fill
out a complaint form, available at the Visitor Center. These trash bags
would present a major safety hazard if they were to attract a bear into the
cabin area, and this is altogether possible. Let them know that you would
not appreciate stepping out of your cabin to find a bear nosing through
garbage irresponsibly left there by people who are supposed to be keeping
the area clean.
